he Association “Amici della Musica di Cagliari” is pleased to announce the International Piano Competition “Ennio Porrino”, the International Composition Competition “Amici della Musica di Cagliari” and, contextually, its Concerts Season.
Founded in 1977, the Association “Amici della Musica di Cagliari” has, as its fundamental aim, to improve the knowledge of classical music and promote chamber music, which was – at the time of its foundation – neglected; to extend and develop the repertoire out of conventional choices, following different paths, to gain the attention of that public which avoided the “institutional” concert halls. At the same time it wants to promote musicians and composers from Sardinia and all the traditional cultural resources present on that island.
It has always been faithful to this program, updating its proposals and following the course of time, the public’s and the music’s new exigencies. After thirty years of activity, the Association has its role at an international level and has developed a confrontation between different cultural realities by organising musical contests (like the “Ennio Porrino” one), master classes, concert seasons (in theatres and schools), scholarships and several collaborations with the University.
