The Association “Amici della Musica di Cagliari”
announces the 20th International Piano Competition “Ennio
Porrino”, which will be held in Cagliari from November 21-25, 2011.
The competition is open to pianist of all nationalities.
There is no age limit. Before beginning, competitors must present a document
of identification and a copy of the edition they will be using for the
pieces they will perform. Members of the Jury may not judge competitors
who are relatives (or friends), or with whom they have had didactic connections,
either academic or private, after October 1, 2009. The Competition will
be divided in three trials, during which competitors will perform In alphabetical
order, beginning with the letter extracted at the beginning of the contest.
The Jury reserves the right not to assign prizes. The decision of the
Jury is final. The winners of each trial will be announced publicly and
the results will be posted at the entrance of the hall.
In case of disputes or complaints, the Italian
version of the competition rules will be held valid.
The following prizes will be awarded:
A 1° Prize of Euro 5000 and certificate
A 2° Prize of Euro 3000 and certificate
A 3° Prize of Euro 2000 and certificate
Winners will be offered several recitals by various concert societies.
Applications accompanied by a birth certificate, a
biography, 2 photographs, and a list of the pieces to be presented in
the three stages of the Competition with their relative timing, must be
sent by registered letter to Concorso Internazionale di Pianoforte “Ennio
Porrino” – Associazione Amici della Musica – Casella
Postale 118, Piazza del Carmine, 09100 Cagliari (Italy), and received not later than October
31, 2011.

The enrollment fee of Euro 100 (no refundable) must
be paid with bank transfer to account n. 31920 of the Banca di Credito Sardo –
Viale Bonaria, Cagliari – (IBAN : IT83 Q030 5904 8101 0000 0031920 – BIC: BCITIT3C) in the
name of the “Amici della Musica di Cagliari”.
Competitors must present:
For the 1st trial
(total length among 20 and 25 minutes) one etude chosen from the followings:
a) an original composition of J.S.Bach;
b) an etude by F.Chopin (Op.10 or 25), Chopin-Godowsky, C.Debussy, B.Bartók, G.Ligeti;
c) a composition chosen by the competitor.
For the 2nd trial
(total length about 40–45 minutes)
a) a sonata by L.van Beethoven, F.J.Haydn or W.A.Mozart;
b) an important composition or a group of compositions by F.Chopin, R.Schumann, J.Brahms, F.Liszt,
A.Scriabin, B.Bartók, S.Prokofiev, I.Stravinsky, C.Debussy, M.Ravel, L.Janacek, G.Ligeti, G.Kurtag, L.Berio, F.Oppo.
For the 3rd trial
(total length among 45 and 50 minutes)
a recital program chosen by the competitor, containing one work written after 1911, which cannot include works presented
in previous trials.
A special prize of Euro 1000 will be given for the
best performance of a work by Ennio Porrino. Amici della Musica di Cagliari
will furnish, upon request, scores of piano music of Ennio Porrino.
A special prize of Euro 1000 will be given for the
best performance of a contemporary work written after 1980.
No work may be performed if it requires a prior
preparation of the piano.

The competition roll-call will be held November 21, 2011 at 10am at the "Conservatory of Music Pierluigi da Palestrina", Piazza Porrino, Cagliari.
1st trial - November 21th, at 16h
2nd trial - November 23th, at 9h
3rd final trial - November 25th, at 18h
